POWER - Solar / Eskom

We have solar power at 18 on Coral, The Loft, and Nguni House.  It is a grid-tided system at this stage, which means that during the day and when it is sunny, the house is run on solar power.  It has limited battery storage,  and when necessary will use the electricity supply to boost the power required.  However during load shedding, especially at night, we ask that guest are considerate and do not use the kettles, hairdryers, heaters and any other appliance that will pull too much power from the battery. This will ensure that there is plenty of reserve for lights, tv's and wifi .  
We would like to remind guest to turn lights off when not in the room. 

WATER - Water Tanks / Amathola District Municipality

Our local municipal water relies on electrical pumps to pump water from the local water source to the filtration and water purification system, It is then pumped to header tanks and gravity fed to the village. We normally have plenty of water, however when there are power outages they can not pump water and during busy periods we run out of municipal water.

The local owners and residence association (KMORA) and community does their very best to ensure that we dont run out of water, but sometimes it is unavoidable. We have a back-up rain water tanks, pressure pump and generator should the power be off over longer periods.

PLEASE NOTE - WATER RATIONING  has become necessary due to very low rain falls this past summer.  Please check the Amathole notice on the fridge and info book for scheduled shut-offs.  Please report any leaks or running water.  TURN TAPS OFF!

HOT WATER - Occassionally, due to power outages or on overcast / rainy days, our solar system timing goes out of sync, and the geyser does not heat the water as well as it should.  If you run the hot water tap and do not have hot water within 2 min, please let us know so that we can over ride the system and you should have hot water within about 30 min.  We also have a generator that will keep things going if all else fails! 

DRINKING WATER - We supply a 5 lieter container of clean drinking water drawn from our rain water tanks.  Filtered and purified bottled water is available at the garage as well as at the shop.  Municiple water is drinkable most of the time.

• Please throw rubbish in the bin and at least stack the dishes neatly by the sink. 

• Our cleaning ladies come in daily to do the dishes, bathrooms and make the beds. (except on 25th Dec and 1st January)

• Please hang your towels up to dry

• We change linen every 4 to 5 sleeps depending on how long you stay. 

• Please throw your rubbish in the bins provided.

• Please stack the dishes that you have used neatly by the sink.

• Toilets operate on septic tanks,  please do not flush saniti items or other disposables as it will block the system!
